World AIDS Day Draws Attention to Need for Increased Testing | Print |

According to the Georgia Division of Public Health, the number of Georgians living with HIV/AIDS jumped almost 27 percent from 2004 to 2007.  Fulton County comprises 10 percent of Georgia’s population and accounts for 54 percent of the state’s AIDS cases.  In recognition of World AIDS Day, December 1, 2010, the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness encourages residents to take control and get tested to learn their status.

The Fulton County Police Department is one of 100 departments out of 700 in the state to receive certification

On Wednesday, November 5, 2010 the Georgia Chiefs of Police presented the Fulton County Police Department with its State Certification for meeting more than 100 professional police standards.   The award was presented to the police department during the Fulton County Board of Commissioners Meeting.

Fulton County Commission Vice Chairman William “Bill” Edwards Announces New Truancy Initiative in South Fulton County | Print |

Program designed to address the problem of truancy in South Fulton

On Wednesday, October 28, 2010, Fulton County Commissioner, District 7 Vice Chairman William “Bill” Edwards officially launched Truancy Reduction and Intervention Project (T.R.I.P.), the new District 7 truancy initiative.

T.R.I.P. is designed to reduce the number of students loitering in the community during school hours, reduce criminal activity of truants in District 7 and provide needs-based resource referrals to truant students and their families.
